I am also very interested in this. Is this to become a commercial application? Or can it even be purchased already? Is more information available about this somewhere?

  5. Giuseppe on May 28, 2008 3:53 pm

Perhaps it does more than that, but this functionality seen in the video is available in Google SketchUp.
Just make a room in SketchUp and use the Paint Bucket insert the pictures you just took.
You can use then the “Walk” or “Look Around” tools to explore the results.

Huang, this is very cool. I’m trying to understand — does this make 3d from 2d pictures? Is there a demo of the vr cruise ship that i can walk around in?

  13. hxflyer on February 3, 2009 6:26 am

    Hi jeff:

this is not make 3d from 2d picture, this is make panorama cruise from panorama pictures and videos between the panorama viewpoints.

    just like google streetview

I have not been able to get the app to play the swf. Created scene, export to desktop. App creates folders animation, scene, and config.xml. Copy VRPlayer.swf to desktop, animation, scene and none of them will play the VR. Any thouhgts or suggestions? Nonetheless, awesome adobe air app.

  25. Ryan on July 5, 2009 8:23 am

    Very cool application Huang Xiang.

Do you think there’s any possibility of turning this into an iPhone Ap? It would totally top even the new stitcher app. You could even team this idea up with Google Street View and then people could create entire street view scenes with just an iphone.

I can even imagine new hardware coming out just for this kind of application. You could have a or 6 sided camera designed like a cube. You set it on a tripod. or EVEN just hold it in the Air.. Take one picture… Instant VR scene.

    This has to be done!

Imagine if there was a natural disaster, or world changing event occurring. Someone could simply shoot 5 shots Up, Left, Right, Front, and Back, then post it live to their blog or even wilder… Twitter. Can you imagine the impact it would have?

By the way… when are you planning on releasing a full product?

  26. Harry Kontos on August 11, 2009 11:39 pm

Very good job…How can use more scenes?
Can use that to outside 3d objects? (Philosphere)

This is perfect for several projects that I have in the works. What are your plans with the program? Are you going to license it? Make it open source?

Please email me at shariq@appleseedinteractive.com. Whatever your plans, I would love to incorporate this into our existing portfolio.
